Joe Root became the first Englishman to reach the milestone of 7000 ODI runs when he smashed his 18th ODI century, batting against West Indies in the second ODI on June 1 at the Sofia Gardens in Cardiff.
As soon as he hit his 84th run, Root became the first English player to cross the 7000 milestone. En route, he also became the highest run-scorer in ODIs for the country, having already reached that milestone in Tests. He has 13,006 Test runs to his name with 36 hundreds.
Root broke former England skipper Eoin Morgan’s record for being the highest scorer in the country's ODI history.
