Josh Hazlewood closes in on Tabraiz Shamsi at the top of ICC T20I rankings

The Australian pacer is just one ranking point behind the South Africa spinner

Following his career-best figures of 3 for 12 against Sri Lanka in the first T20 International, followed by yet another exceptional performance in the second game, Australia pacer Josh Hazlewood has climbed to No. 2 in the latest ICC T20I rankings. Hazlewood (783) is just one point behind South Africa spinner Tabrazi Shamsi (784) in the ranking points.

Hazlewood is also the only fast bowler to feature in the top seven. Anrich Nortje and Tim Southee are the only other fast bowlers in the top 10.

In matches elsewhere, Nepal's Dipendra Singh Airee, who was the leading run-getter in the Quadrangular T20I series in Oman with 142 runs humped 63 places to 53 in the ICC T20I rankings for batters. Oman fast bowler Bilal Khan moved to 18th, which is his career-best position.

In the 50-over format, Shreyas Iyer' timely 80 in the final ODI against West Indies helps him to 61st, while his domestic teammate Suryakumar Yadav, who was the leading run-getter in at 83. Rishabh Pant jumped six places to move to 71.

There were no movements when it comes to the Indian batters in the top 10, with KL Rahul occupying the fourth spot, while former captain Virat Kohli at 10th. Bhuvneshwar Kumar is India's highest-ranked T20I bowler at 21st, while no Indian all-rounder features in the top 20.

Among the bowlers, Prasidh Krishna, who finished with nine wickets at 7.55 in the series gained 50 places to move into the top 50.
