India and Australia are set to rekindle their rivalry in the summit clash of the World Test Championship starting June 7 at The Oval in London.
Ahead of the finale, Australia suffered a minor injury sweat as Josh Hazlewood returned home from the ongoing Indian Premier League before Bangalore's must-win clash against Gujarat Titans due to side soreness.
The 32-year-old, who has been one of the mainstays in the Australian bowling unit, has been struggling with a number of injuries in the recent past.
After suffering from Achilles tendinitis in the Test series against South Africa at home, Hazlewood missed the Border Gavaskar Trophy after not being able to recover in time.
He also missed Bangalore's initial games and featured for the first time this season against Lucknow Super Giants on May 1. While he played a couple of more games against Delhi and Mumbai on May 6 and May 9, he missed the remaining fixtures as precautionary measures.
"Josh Hazlewood returned home from the IPL last weekend after experiencing minor side soreness after completing his most recent IPL match," Cricket Australia's spokesperson said, as reported by Cricbuzz.
"After a brief and precautionary rest period, Hazlewood returned to high-intensity bowling last week and will continue to increase his bowling workloads in preparation for the WTC and Ashes series. Hazlewood is considered fit and available for the WTC and Ashes Series," he further added.
After the completion of the World Test Championship, Australia will face their arch-rivals, England, in a riveting Ashes series scheduled to commence on June 16 in Birmingham.
