Josh Hazlewood, who missed the second Test against India in Adelaide due to a side strain, is poised for a comeback in the third Test in Brisbane, starting December 14 (Saturday). According to a report on ESPNCricinfo, the pacer has been making good progress and will walk into the XI at the Gabba. Scott Boland, who replaced Hazlewood in Adelaide, is the likely candidate to make way.
"If someone needs to make [way], they'll be pretty unlucky," Australia skipper Pat Cummins said.
Boland picked up five wickets in Adelaide but went for over 4.5 an over in both the innings. Hazlewood praised Boland's consistency regardless of whether he plays for Australia or Victoria. "[It's] just admiration, he just sticks to his guns," Hazlewood said.
"He does his job, he doesn't try and be anyone else. Whether he's playing for Victoria or Australia, it's the same thing, it's the same areas. We've seen him take multiple wickets in an over, so once he gets on a roll, it's just bang, bang, bang. In these conditions, [with the] pink ball under lights, there's not many better."
Hazlewood played the first Test in Perth, where he took five wickets. If he plays, he will once again be reunited with Cummins and Mitchell Starc
