Josh Inglis’ non-retention sparked a lot of rumours and that led to a lot of debate on what the Punjab Kings were actually planning by not retaining him. It was later revealed that he was unable to commit for the full season to the Kings and, hence, was released.
However, it has now come to the fore that the England-born, West Australia cricketer will be able to play only four matches across the season. He is not the only cricketer out of the 1355 mentioned in the long list to have limited availability for the next season of the biggest league in the world.
A Cricbuzz report said that Australia’s Ashton Agar (65 per cent) and William Sutherland (80 per cent), New Zealand’s Adam Milne (95 per cent), and South Africa’s Rilee Rossouw of South Africa (20 per cent) too, confirmed that they would have limited availability for IPL and thus franchises should keep that in mind while preparing their shortlist.
Inglis has a base price of INR 2 Cr and is currently playing in the second Ashes Test at the Gabba in place of the injured Usman Khawaja. Overall, he featured in 11 matches for the Punjab side in IPL 2025 and was the hero for them against Mumbai Indians in both the last league stage match and Qualifier 2.
