Kieron Pollard And...? 3 Coaches Who Continue To Be Active Cricketers

Who among these is the best cricketer?

Modern-day cricket has changed drastically over the years. With T20 leagues across the world booming, it has given an opportunity for the players to don many hats simultaneously. We look at a few who have transformed into coaches yet remain active cricketers.

Kieron Pollard

Kieron Pollard retired from the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2022, and since then has been Mumbai Indians (MI) batting coach. Pollard has played only for MI in the IPL and has won multiple titles with them as well. However, he continues to play in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL), currently representing Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR). He also plays for MI New York in Major League Cricket (MLC).

Tim Southee

Tim Southee retired from Test cricket in November 2024, but continues to play in T20 leagues across the globe. The former New Zealand skipper was recently seen in the role of a fast bowling consultant with England during their Test series against India. He is currently playing for the Birmingham Phoenix in The Hundred, where he has picked up three wickets in six matches so far.

Matthew Wade

T20 World Cup winner Matthew Wade was appointed Gujarat Titans' (GT) assistant coach in the IPL last season. He played in the International League T20 (ILT20) for Sharjah Warriors, just a little over a month before starting his new role in the IPL. The 37-year-old has not announced his retirement from professional cricket (only international), and he could very well continue to be a T20 globetrotter for years to come.
