Knight ruled out of Commonwealth Games and The Hundred

The England skipper suffered a hip injury during the South Africa series

England Women's captain Heather Knight has been ruled out of the Commonwealth Games and The Hundred with a hip injury. The 31-year-old picked up the injury during the first T20I of the three-match series against South Africa.

Knight didn't feature in the last two matches of the series and is also yet to play in the ongoing Commonwealth Games. Having won their first two games, England have already qualified for the semi-finals but a win against New Zealand would help them avoid Australia in the semis.

Nat Sciver, who led England in the first two encounters, will continue to captain the team at the Commonwealth Games. England haven't named a replacement yet. Meanwhile, Knight will stay with the team and receive treatment.

Knight was supposed to lead London Spirit in the second edition of The Hundred but will now miss the entire tournament. The women's tournament will get underway on August 11.
