Krunal, Suryakumar, Prasidh receive maiden ODI call-ups for England series

All three matches will be played at the MCA Stadium, Pune, starting from March 23.

India have announced the One-Day International (ODI) squad for the upcoming three-match series against England. Fast bowler Prasidh Krishna, all-rounder Krunal Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav, who took the world by storm with a fifty on his first international innings have received their maiden call-ups in the format.

Karnataka pacer Prasidh was his side’s leading wicket-taker in the recently-concluded Vijay Hazare Trophy, where he scalped 14 wickets at 22.21. Krunal, who led the Baroda team was impressive with the bat, smashing 388 runs from five innings at an excellent average of 129.33, which included two fifties and as many centuries. Newly-capped T20I batsman Suryakumar played just five matches in Mumbai’s title-winning season, but made an impact nevertheless, hitting a century and two fifties en route his 332 runs at 66.40, which includes a superb strike-rate of 151.59.

While India’s focus currently remains on the T20 World Cup later this year, both teams will look to the ODI series to build further in that direction. Currently, the T20I series stands at 2-2, with the decider scheduled to be played on March 20.

All three matches will be played at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune, starting from March 23.

India ODI squad: Virat Kohli (c), Rohit Sharma (vc), Shikhar Dhawan, Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Rishabh Pant (wk), KL Rahul (wk), Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, Krunal Pandya, Washington Sundar, T Natarajan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Shardul Thakur
