NEWSSri Lanka Cricket on Friday confirmed that skipper Kusal Perera will miss the limited-overs series against India due to a shoulder injury. Pacer Binura Fernando is set to miss the three ODIs due to a sprained ankle.
Perera suffered a right shoulder sprain during a training session while Fernando sprained his left ankle during a practice session on Thursday. SLC confirmed the pacer's injury as a lateral ligament sprain.
Perera's absence will be a huge blow for Sri Lanka who have lost back-to-back limited-overs series against Bangladesh and England. Uncertainty looms over their batting order as they are without Kusal Mendis, Danushka Gunathilaka and Niroshan Dickwella, who are all suspended for a bio-bubble breach during the England tour.
The host is yet to announce the squad for the six white-ball matches against India from July 18-20.
