The Punjab Kings (PBKS) on May 15 (Thursday) named New Zealand pace-bowling all-rounder Kyle Jamieson as replacement for another New Zealander, Lockie Ferguson, who was ruled out of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 earlier this season with a hamstring injury.
Jamieson was named as a temporary replacement according to new rules set by the IPL Governing Council after the extension of the league. Jamieson will join the PBKS unit for a price of INR 2 Cr.
Another New Zealand right-arm pacer, known for his height and ability to generate pace and bounce, William O’Rourke, was named as replacement for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG)’s Mayank Yadav, who, after playing just two matches in the league, has now been ruled out. O’Rourke will be paid INR 3 Cr.
The third and last signing update for the day came from Gujarat Titans (GT), who named Sri Lanka’s Kusal Mendis as temporary replacement for Jos Buttler, who will leave for national duties after May 26, meaning he will only be there till the league stages.
Mendis, who has been signed for the first time ever in the IPL, will get INR 75 Lakh.
IPL 2025, which was scheduled to end on May 25, had to be extended to June 3, after it was halted for one week between May 9 and 16 due to heightened tensions between India and Pakistan on the country’s western borders.
