Punjab Kings were dealt with a big blow as star pacer Lockie Ferguson is all but out of the remainder of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The right-arm speedster hobbled off the field after just two balls in PBKS’ defeat against SRH on April 12 (Saturday), after which he never came back on the field.
"Ferguson is out indefinitely, and us getting him back by the end of the tournament is a very low percentage. I think he's done a real decent injury to himself," PBKS’ bowling coach James Hopes said ahead of their clash against KKR.
The 33-year-old was seen clutching his left thigh and hobbled with a lot of pain, suggesting that his season might just be over. Ferguson picked up four wickets but was on the costlier side of things for PBKS, with an economy of 9.17.
It is not Ferguson’s first injury this year, as the New Zealand pacer was ruled out of the Champions Trophy 2025 with a hamstring injury. However, PBKS do have enough overseas reinforcements in the form of Australian pacer Xavier Bartlett, all-rounder Aaron Hardie and Afghanistan all-rounder Azmatullah Omarzai.
