Shubman Gill, who was acquired by Gujarat Titans (GT) for INR 8 crore ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 auction feels fast bowler Lockie Ferguson will be the X-factor for them this season.
The duo shared the dressing room previously at Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Gill says he was a huge asset for the franchise. The New Zealand pacer was bought by GT for INR 10 crore at five times his base price.
"When we were in Kolkata Knight Riders, he was a huge asset for us and I am sure he is going to be a huge X-factor for us in the Gujarat Titans squad," Gill said, according to NDTV.com.
"Like you asked me if I will be able to help Hardik, yes if he is willing to ask me for advice, obviously I will help him in any situation."
Gill further adds that he does not have clarity on his role as he has not interacted with Hardik Pandya or Ashish Nehra due to being in quarantine, but hopes to chalk it out soon. "Obviously it feels great to be part of this setup. Unfortunately, I was not retained by KKR but it felt great to be picked up by Gujarat Titans," the India batter said.
"I have not gotten in touch with Hardik Pandya or Ashish Nehra because I have been in quarantine. As soon as I get out, we will get our plans sorted and I will have much more clarity on my role both individually and for the team as well."
GT will get their IPL 2022 campaign underway against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on Monday (March 28) at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.
