Pooran sets it up
Nicholas Pooran (42) walked in when Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) were 78/3, having lost Devdutt Padikkal (9) and Marcus Stoinis (19) in a span of 21 deliveries.
The stand-in captain ensured that he wouldn’t fall without making an impact as he first put on 47 off 27 with Quinton de Kock (54) and then added a few more boundaries to set the platform for the lower-order.
Krunal Pandya finishes off well
After Pooran had set the platform, Krunal Pandya wasted little time to get going. He spared no one as he went on to score an unbeaten 43 off just 22 deliveries, including a 20-run over off Harshal Patel. Any length the bowlers hit, Krunal was up for it.
Dhawan, Bairstow start well
In pursuit of 200, Punjab Kings (PBKS) openers Shikhar Dhawan (70) and Jonny Bairstow (42) got off to the perfect start, taking full toll of the powerplay, scoring 61 without losing a wicket.
In fact, they put on 102 for the first wicket in 70 balls, which at that point seemed to be a match-winning one.
Mayank Yadav’s dream debut
21-year-old pacer Mayank Yadav was thrown into the deep end when he was thrown the ball in the 12th over with Dhawan and Bairstow motoring on. However, he bowled with deadly pace and accuracy, often hurrying the batters into playing false shots, which fetched him his three wickets. He ended up with 3/27, which proved pivotal for LSG in the end.

PBKS collapse
61/0 after six, 98/0 after 10. PBKS were in an excellent position to claim victory, but Mayank Yadav came out of the syllabus for them.
As a result, they managed just 80/5 in the final 10 overs, which eventually saw them fall well short of the target.
