New Zealand opener Martin Guptill, who suffered a toe injury during his side's first match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 against Pakistan, is fit and available for the game against India. Both New Zealand and India were beaten by Pakistan in their first game of the tournament and are eyeing to get off the mark in the tournament when they play each other later today.
Guptill scored 17 off 20 against Pakistan as the Blackcaps succumbed to a five-wicket loss India have not defeated New Zealand in an ICC tournament since 2003. Their most recent loss was in the World Test Championship (WTC) final in Southampton in June this year.
"It went a different shade of colour for a period of time. But he trained yesterday and he's training again tonight, so it's great to see that he's available and fit for selection," New Zealand coach Gary Stead was quoted as saying by New Zealand media.
Stead also said that Adam Milne may also be part of the playing XI to take on India. Milne was approved as an injury replacement for Lockie Ferguson.
