NEWSThe BCCI have confirmed that Shikhar Dhawan, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Navdeep and Shreyas Iyer have all returned a positive Covid-19 test results ahead of the three-match ODI series against West Indies that is set to commence on Sunday, February 6. While Dhawan and Saini returned positive results in the very first round of testing, Gaikwad tested positive in the second round after returning a negative result in the first round of testing on Monday. Shreyas Iyer returned a positive result on the third round of testing that was done on Wednesday (Feb 2) after returning negative results in each of the first two rounds. All four players will take no part in the three-match ODI series.
Alongside the four players, Fielding Coach T. Dilip, Security Liaison Officer B. Lokesh and Sports Massage Therapist Rajeev Kumar all have also tested positive for the virus.
“The BCCI Medical team is handling the positive cases and they will remain in isolation till complete recovery is attained,” the board confirmed in a statement.
To cover up for the loss of two openers, Mayank Agarwal has been added to the ODI squad. Agarwal last played an ODI in late 2020 in Australia.
