After a shambolic display against New Zealand in the Champions Trophy 2025 opener, Pakistan are all but out of the competition unless they perform a miracle. Pakistan will have to channel their 2017 self and beat India in their Champions Trophy encounter on February 23 in Dubai.

Pakistan haven’t beaten India in the ODI format since 2017, with multiple losses since then, including suffering a humiliation against their arch-rivals in front of almost 1,00,000 people in Ahmedabad during the 2023 ODI World Cup.
Not even their current form will give them a chance of winning against India, but former Indian cricketer Atul Wassan wishes that Pakistan beat India to make the tournament more fun.
"I want Pakistan to win. Maza aayega [it will be fun, tournament-wise]. If you don't let Pakistan win, then what will you do? If Pakistan wins, then it becomes a contest. There should be an equal fight," he told ANI.
Since the 2017 loss in the final, India have defeated Pakistan in five out of the six games, with one of them being rained off.
