India once again turned out to be the better team against Pakistan between the two arch-rivals in a Super Four match of the Asia Cup 2025 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai on September 21 (Sunday).
Not only did they chase down 172 with six wickets intact and seven balls to spare, but they opened up Pakistan’s bruises once again. In the first meeting between the two during the group stage, Pakistan's batting was the problem for Men in Green and today their bowling turned out to be the weak link.
India, in both the games, managed to live up to the billing, first raising their batting after a downfall and then bowling after the opposition had a solid start.
In today’s game, Pakistan were cruising at 91/1 after the end of the first 10 overs. With Sahibzada Farhan at 52 and Saim Ayub at 21, they looked all set to cross the 190-run mark easily and put pressure on the opposition.
But India brought out their A game as the players utilised their Indian Premier League (IPL) experience and turned the game around. In the next 10, Pakistan could manage only 80 runs and lost four wickets as well. If not for Faheem Ashraf’s 8-ball 20, the Pakistani team might have struggled to cross the 160-mark as well.
In the last game, the story was all too similar, but in a different way. Defending 127, Pakistan had India two down for 41 and seemed like climbing back into the game before a solid stand between skipper Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma did the trick.
After this result, Pakistan's batting and bowling both seem to have problems that have been badly exposed by India.
If Pakistan are to make up for the two losses against their arch-rivals, they can do so by reaching the final. For that to happen, they must win their remaining two matches against Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.
