Moeen Ali suffers ankle injury, doubtful for PBKS tie: Report

The England allrounder had suffered the injury during a practice session on Saturday

Chennai Super Kings suffered a blow ahead of their Monday's IPL 2022 match against Punjab Kings after Moeen Ali injured his ankle during the training session, ESPNCricinfo reported. The allrounder had injured his ankle during a practice session on Saturday as the team are awaiting his scan results.

Moeen had missed CSK's previous matches against Gujarat Titans and was replaced by New Zealand allrounder Mitchell Santner for the clash against Mumbai Indians which they won. The spin-bowling allrounder could add to the team's injury list consisting Adam Milne and Deepak Chahar.

After playing a key role in their title win last year, Moeen's form has dwindled in the ongoing season as he scored 87 runs from five innings after missing their season opener due to visa issues. The offspiner has so far gone wicketless from the eight overs he had bowled across five matches.

CSK have won only two matches in the season so far and are second from the bottom over arch-rivals Mumbai Indians who are yet to open their account this season.
