The wait is finally over for Moeen Ali as the spin-bowling all-rounder from England is set to join Chennai Super Kings on Thursday (March 24), reported Cricbuzz.
The 34-year-old has finally received his visa papers but will still miss the first game of the Indian Premier League 2022 against Kolkata Knight Riders.
"He picked his papers yesterday and is ready to fly," his father Munir Ali was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.
"He will arrive in Mumbai in the evening and will straight away go into isolation. He will not be available for the first game against Kolkata Knight Riders but we are happy that all the uncertainty has ended," said Kasi Viswanathan, the CEO of the franchise.
Moeen had applied for the travel papers on February 28 but it took more than three weeks for him to receive his papers.
The forthcoming edition of the IPL will commence on Saturday (March 16), with Chennai taking on Kolkata at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
Because of his fine all-round show which helped the team lift its fourth IPL title, Moeen was retained by CSK alongside inspirational captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja and Ruturaj Gaikwad.
Moeen scored 357 runs from 15 innings for CSK in the IPL last year, while also accounting for six wickets from 15 games with his off-spin bowling.
