Mohammad Rizwan, Shaheen Afridi Join Babar Azam In BBL Following BBL15 Draft
The BBL 15 draft took place today, where a plethora of Pakistan players were drafted
Following the Sydney Sixers’ groundbreaking signing of Babar Azam ahead of the 2025/26 edition of the Big Bash League (BBL), there will be two more marquee names that will be joining the former Pakistan skipper Down Under.
Both Mohammad Rizwan and Shaheen Afridi were top draft picks in the BBL 15 draft today as the duo, alongside Babar, will be making their BBL debut in the forthcoming edition.
While Shaheen was drafted by Brisbane Heat, Rizwan was picked by Melbourne Renegades. They join a massive Pakistan contingent in the BBL, with Haris Rauf (Stars), Shadab Khan (Thunder), Hasan Ali (Strikers) and Hassan Khan (Renegades) being the other Pakistan players who will be featuring in the forthcoming BBL edition.
England’s Sam Curran (Sixers) and Rehan Ahmed (Hurricanes), Bangladesh’s Rishad Hossain (Hurricanes) and New Zealand’s Lockie Ferguson (Thunder) were some of the other notable names picked in the draft.
BBL 2024/25 was won by Hobart Hurricanes, who downed the David Warner-led Sydney Thunder in the final courtesy a stunning century from Mitch Owen.
