Musheer, Shedge fresh faces in Rahane-led Mumbai Ranji squad

Dhawal Kulkarni and Shivam Dube haven’t yet recovered from their injuries

Mumbai have a mixed bag thus far in the domestic season. While they won, beating all the odds in the premier 20-over competition, Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT), they were comprehensively beaten before the knock-out stage in the Vjiay Hazare Trophy (VHT).

All eyes now are Ajinkya Rahane-led Mumbai side in their quest to be Ranji Trophy champions yet again. Sarfaraz Khan’s younger brother, Musheer Khan has been picked in the squad, on the back of his impressive display in the age-group level for Mumbai. Suryansh Shedge too has been included in the squad that otherwise comprises of stellar names.

Musheer ended the Under-25 State A Trophy, with 464 runs, averaging 92.80, whilst scoring two centuries and two fifties, in what was a spectacular season for him. The 17-year-old was part of Mumbai’s 21-man squad during the knock-out stage last season but missed out on an opportunity to feature in the playing XI.
