Rajasthan Royals (RR) succumbed to their third loss in five matches after they were beaten comprehensively by 58 runs at the hands of the Gujarat Titans (GT) on April 9 (Tuesday) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
It was a good wicket to bat on and yet Rajasthan could manage to get only 159 after they were bowled out in the 20th over, chasing 218 to win. Reflecting on the loss, RR captain Sanju Samson said that he would have to look at all the things in the meeting tomorrow.
“The way we bowled at the death, we need to look at it in the meeting tomorrow and come back better,” he said.
“When you lose games, we also think we should have chased or batted first. We were expecting these conditions. This was a really good wicket. We want to respect the conditions and be a team that can win games while chasing,” added Samson.
GT captain Shubman Gill credited his team’s versatility for their win and said that it was a good headache to have to choose Player Of The Match amongst so many good performers.
“We'll take 220 any day of the week.” “If you have difficulty choosing the man of the match, it is a good problem for us to have. We have a team where everyone contributes,” Gill said.
Sai Sudharsan, who was named Player of the Match for his 53-ball 82, which took the Titans to 217 in 20 overs, said that he has worked a lot on his basics to become a versatile batter.
“I took some time but knew we couldn't take a lot of time. Then, I wanted to take the game deeper. We wanted to have wickets for death. I have worked on a lot of basics, which helps me be a versatile batter,” he said.
