Ngidi will fill Hazlewood's void at CSK, feels Hogg

The South Africa pacer picked up nine wickets from four outings for CSK last season

Former Australia spinner Brad Higg feels South Africa pacer Lungi Ngidi will fill the void left by Josh Hazlewood for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021. Hazlewood, who was set to travel to India with fellow IPL-bound Australians decided to give the tournament a skip saying he wanted to spend more time with his family and also, wanted to keep himself fresh given that there is a T20 World Cup and Ashes later this year.

"CSK had a brilliant bowling lineup with Hazlewood in it, but one man doesn't make a team, Ngidi will fill that void with the Australian pulling out. #CSK looking fairly strong this year. #IPL2021," tweeted Hogg.

Hazlewood played just three matches for CSK in IPL 2020, played in the UAE, picking up just one wicket. Other than Ngidi, he would have had to compete for a place in the XI with the likes of Moeen Ali, Sam Curran and also Dwayne Bravo.

The new season of IPL kicks off on April 9, with Mumbai Indians (MI) taking on Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the first game in Chennai. CSK, on the other hand, face Delhi Capitals (DC) the next day at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.
