Cameron Green has been ruled out of India ODIs, with him focusing on his return to the Sheffield Shield to get ready for the all-important Ashes 2025-26, said a release by Cricket Australia, which announced the squad for the three-match series on October 17 (Friday).
"Green will complete a short period of rehabilitation and is tracking to return to play in round three of the Sheffield Shield to continue his preparation for the Ashes," CA said in a press release, as quoted by Cricbuzz.
With Green’s absence, out-of-favour Marnus Labuschagne has gained the most, getting into the national squad after being made to sit out following his poor show in the home series against South Africa.
The 31-year-old, who has three centuries in his last four innings across List-A and First-Class cricket for Queensland, could not be ignored any longer by the selectors. He would now be looking to impress in the ODIs to get back to the Test set-up for the all-important Ashes as well.
Other than these two major changes, the Aussies would have to make do without the likes of Josh Inglis and Adam Zampa for the first game, which is scheduled to take place on October 19 (Sunday) at the Optus Stadium in Perth.
From the second ODI onwards, which will take place at the Adelaide Oval, Australia will have the services of Alex Carey, Zampa and Inglis.
