No player from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh sign up for UAE's ILT20

The six franchises in the league are owned by six franchises owned by Reliance Industries, Kolkata Knight Riders, Capri Global, GMR, Lancer Capital, and Adani Sportsline

A string of international cricketers have been named in UAE's International League T20 (ILT20) which includes Australia power-hitter Chris Lynn, who has chosen to play in the competition ahead of the Big Bash League (BBL). Recently, there were reports of David Warner too taking the same course.

Other cricketers include West Indies duo of Sunil Narine and Andre Russell, England all-rounder Moeen Ali and also, and Afghanistan spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman.

However, there were no players from India, Pakistan or Bangladesh in the initial list they were not preferred by any of the six franchises owned by Reliance Industries, Kolkata Knight Riders, Capri Global, GMR, Lancer Capital, and Adani Sportsline. Whether or not they would be signed closer to the tournament still remains a mystery. 

"Some of the biggest names in global T20 cricket from England, the West Indies, Australia, South Africa, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Zimbabwe and Ireland, as well as from various leading ICC Associate Nations, including USA, Namibia, The Netherlands and Nepal have now signed on," an ILT20 release said.

Apart from some of the above-mentioned players the likes Dawid Malan, Wanindu Hasiranga, Sunil Narine, Evin Lewis, Colin Munro, Fabien Allen, Sam Billings, Tom Curran, Alex Hales, Dushmantha Chameera, Shimron Hetmyer, Akeal Hosein, Chris Jordan, Tom Banton, Sandeep Lamichhane, Chris Lynn, Rovman Powell, and Bhanuka Rajapaksa are the marquee players set to feature in the tournament. 

Lahiru Kumara, Seekugge Prasanna, Charith Asalanka, Colin Ingram, Paul Stirling, Kennar Lewis, Ali Khan, Brandon Glover, Ravi Rampaul, Raymon Reifer, Isuru Udana, Blessing Muzarabani, Niroshan Dickwella, Hazaratullah Zazai, Frederick Klassen, Sikandar Raja, George Munsey, Dan Lawrence, Dominic Drakes, Jamie Overton, Liam Dawson, David Wiese, Qais Ahmed, Richard Gleeson, James Vince, Noor Ahmed, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Navin Ul Haq, Sherfane Rutherford, Saqib Mahmood, Ben Duckett, Benny Howell and Ruben Trumpelman are some of the other players who could feature in the tournament.

"Over the past weeks, six franchises have started discussions and engaged with players, and players' agents, to exercise their 'Direct Acquisition' rights, and we are extremely delighted to be in a position to announce the first set of players who will compete in the league," Khalid Al Zarooni, UAE ILT20 chairman, said

Elaborating further on the basic regulations of the tournament, Mubashshir Usmani, Emirates Cricket's general secretary, said, "It's exciting to see how well the squads are shaping up for the first season of ILT20. 

"Each team will consist of 18 players, including four UAE players and two other players from ICC Associate countries. The quality of the names announced is outstanding and so is the interest in our league from top players from all around the world."

The tournament, which is yet to receive a green signal from the ICC is expected to start early next year in the UAE and is likely to clash with Cricket South Africa's (CSA) newly-formed T20 league too.
