It has been a tough start for the Delhi Capitals in this edition of the Indian Premier League, as they have taken six games and nearly three weeks to get their first win.
The Capitals recorded a nail-biting victory against Kolkata Knight Riders at home to gain two vital points and get off the mark in the table. While they stumbled in the 128-run chase and lost six wickets, Axar Patel feels the win will give the team a lot of confidence heading into their clash against the Sunrisers Hyderabad.
"A win certainly changes the environment in the team. A few doubts creep in when you're not able to cross the line. Our win in the last match will help us build confidence. We will try to keep winning games. The wicket was tricky, and they bowled quite well," he said in a release by the franchise.
"Therefore, I wanted to take the game as deep as possible. There's always room for improvement, and we'll definitely try to play a near-perfect game in the upcoming matches," he added.
Delhi are languishing at the bottom of the points table and will face ninth-placed team Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 24 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.
Ahead of the clash, Axar believes the wicket will be conducive for batting and help their struggling batting order gain some much-needed confidence.
"The wicket in Hyderabad is good for batting. The pitch will help our batters as we have been playing on slow wickets in our last few games."
"The ball comes onto the bat nicely in Hyderabad. Sunrisers Hyderabad's fast-bowling unit will pose a challenge to us, but we'll plan properly to take on the challenge," he concluded.
