Pakistan's Saim Ayub, who did nothing of note with the bat in the Asia Cup 2025, has managed to overthrow India’s Hardik Pandya and get crowned the new number one in ICC’s T20I rankings for all-rounders, released on October 1 (Wednesday).
Ayub, who scored three ducks on the trot at the start of the tournament and four overall, could manage only 37 runs in seven innings. With the ball, though, he was decent enough, picking up eight wickets in 20 overs of six games that he bowled in.
Pandya, on the other hand, did not really have a great outing either, scoring 48 runs and taking four wickets in the limited opportunities that he got, bowling just 14 overs and batting in only four innings of the tournament.
Abhishek Sharma, India’s biggest sensation from the tournament, scaled new heights as he cemented his place at the top of the batting charts. He now has 931 rating points, the most by any batter in the history of T20I rankings, bettering England’s Dawid Malan’s 919 points.
Amongst the bowlers, India’s Varun Chakaravarthy continues to hold on to his numero-uno spot. The mystery spinner took seven wickets in the Asia Cup 2025.
