Just a day after Pakistan’s defeat to India in the Asia Cup 2025 final, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has suspended all no-objection certificates (NOCs) for players seeking to participate in T20 leagues abroad, according to a report by ESPNcricinfo.
PCB chief operating officer Sumair Ahmad Syed has already issued a notice to players and their agents, informing them of the move. "With the approval of Chairman PCB, all No Objection Certificates (NOCs) for players with respect to participation in leagues and other out of country tournaments are hereby put on hold until further orders.”
Seven Pakistani players - Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf, Shadab Khan, Hasan Ali and Hassan Khan - were set to feature in the Big Bash League (BBL) later this year. In addition, Naseem Shah, Saim Ayub, Fakhar Zaman, and 15 other Pakistan players have also been shortlisted for the ILT20 auction on October 1.
While the PCB has not offered an official explanation for the suspension, the move comes less than 24 hours after India defeated Pakistan in the Asia Cup final on September 28. Pakistan faced India three times in the tournament and lost on every occasion.
