Prithvi Shaw To SRH? 3 Players Who Can Replace Brydon Carse At Sunrisers Hyderabad In IPL 2025
Carse could be a doubt for IPL 2025 after injuring his toe. He is already ruled out of the Champions Trophy
England’s Brydon Carse has officially been ruled out of the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy 2025 due to a toe injury, and the injury has put his participation in the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) in jeopardy.
With England set to play five Tests against India and five Tests away in Australia in the next few months, it will not be a surprise if the ECB asks Carse to pull out of IPL 2025.
Should the pace-bowling all-rounder withdraw, it will serve as a big blow to SRH but the good news for SRH is that there are enough quality players in the market they can sign as replacement.
Who can replace Brydon Carse at SRH?
Prithvi Shaw
Arguably the biggest Indian name to go unsold at the IPL 2025 mega auction, Prithvi Shaw can be snapped up as a replacement player by SRH, considering he just has a base price of INR 75 lakh.
Now, replacing an overseas fast bowler with an Indian batter will be quite the choice, but it’s happened in the past, and the tactic will bolster SRH’s batting further. SRH already have a stacked batting core in Head, Klaasen, Abhishek Sharma, Nitish Kumar Reddy and Ishan Kishan, and Shaw could be a nice backup to this explosive core.
SRH have already helped one former Delhi Capitals (DC) player realise his potential (Abhishek Sharma). Maybe they can repeat the deed and help Shaw’s career get back on track.
Navdeep Saini
A very handy Indian pacer who SRH can pick as Brydon Carse’s replacement is Navdeep Saini. Again, priced at just INR 75 lakh, Saini surprisingly went unsold at the mega auction. But with 32 IPL games under his belt, the right-arm pacer is an experienced campaigner.
And considering he still is rapid in terms of pace, he can be a nice like-for-like replacement for Carse, potentially playing the role of an enforcer in the middle overs. Certainly, should Saini be roped in, he will automatically be the fastest bowler in the SRH squad.
Ottneil Baartman
Another player priced at INR 75 lakh, Ottneil Baartman plays for Sunrisers Hyderabad’s sister franchise in the SA20, Sunrisers Eastern Cape. And he had a pretty good SA20 2025, taking 11 wickets at an economy of 7.71.
The one phase where Baartman stands out is the death overs (16-20). In the 2025 SA20, he took 7 of his 11 wickets in the final five overs. In fact, in the entire competition, no bowler took more death-over wickets than Baartman (7).
Cummins-Baartman-Harshal Patel-Shami will make for a formidable bowling line-up in the last five overs, a phase that’s usually dominated by the batters.
