How are the finalists decided?

The team that finishes in the top four make it through to the playoffs.

In Qualifier 1, No. 1 will face No. 2. The winner of that game makes it through to the final, while the losing team will face the winner of the Eliminator (No. 3 vs No. 4) in Qualifier 2. The winner of Qualifier 1 will then take on the winner of Qualifier 2 in the final.

All the playoff matches of PSL 2024 will be played in Karachi (March 14-18).

Who is the leading run-getter and wicket-taker in PSL?

Former Pakistan captain Babar Azam is the league’s leading run-getter with 2,935 runs at 43.80, along with a strike-rate of 124.84. He has also hit one century and 28 fifties in 77 innings. He has a chance to become the first player to 3,000 PSL runs.

Fast bowler Wahab Riaz, with 113 scalps, has the most wickets in PSL. He has done so at an average of 22.68, strike-rate of 17.46 and has conceded 7.79 runs an over.

Where can I watch PSL 2024 matches in India?

All matches will be streamed live on the FanCode app, which can be accessed on mobile phones, tablets and smart TVs. There will be no live broadcast of the tournament in the country.

Which is the most successful franchise in PSL?

Both Islamabad United (2016 & 2018) and Lahore Qalandars (2022 & 2023) have won two titles apiece, while Peshawar Zalmi have finished runners-up thrice (2018, 2019 & 2021) and are yet to win a title.

Who are the captains and the head coaches?Islamabad United – Captain: Shadab Khan, Head coach: Mike Hesson

Karachi Kings – Captain: Shan Masood, Head coach: Phil Simmons

Multan Sultans – Captain: Captain: Mohammad Rizwan, Head coach: Abdul Rehman

Peshawar Zalmi – Captain: Babar Azam, Head coach: Daren Sammy

Quetta Gladiators – Captain: Rilee Rossouw, Head coach: Shane Watson

Any changes in Leaderships for PSL 2024 season?

After leading Quetta in all eight seasons so far, Sarfaraz Ahmed has decided to step down as captain of the side. "Sarfaraz wants to take a break from captaincy with new head coach Shane Watson set to decide who will lead the side after consulting with the team management," the franchise owner said in his statement.

As a result, South Africa batter Rilee Rossouw was appointed as the captain of the franchise, while Saud Shakeel has been named his deputy.

What is the prize money for the winners and runners-up in PSL 2024?

The winner will receive a sum of PKR 120 million (USD 430,000 approx), while the runners-up are entitled to PKR 48 million (USD 172,000 approx).

Are all the players available this season?

Unfortunately, no. Fast bowlers Reece Topley and player of the tournament in PSL 2023 Ishanullah have been ruled out of the PSL due to injuries, Multan Sultans owner Ali Tareen announced on Sunday (February 11). Ihsanullah, who is out due to an elbow injury, has not played a competitive game since April 2023. Topley’s injury is not considered to be a serious one, and is expected to turn up to the IPL.

Moreover, the ECB has neither granted him or any of their players NOCs to participate in the tournament. That’s the case with many other boards too.

West Indies pace sensation Shamar Joseph is set to play in his first-ever PSL season, with Gus Atkinson out for the entire season.

Lungi Ngidi, Wanindu Hasaranga, Shai Hope, Matthew Forde and Akeal Hosein, South Africa's Tabraiz Shamshi and Rassie van Der Dussen, James Vince, Noor Ahmed and Naveen ul Haq, among others, will also skip the entire tournament.

It is partly due to the overlapping of other T20 leagues like the ILT20 and BPL. The SA20, too, got over recently, and the cricket boards, as a result, are reluctant to grant NOCs to manage workloads, with one eye on their fitness with the T20 World Cup not too far away.

Moreover, Afghanistan and Sri Lanka are currently involved in a bilateral series, which will overlap with the initial stages of PSL 2024.

What are the price categories for the players?

The price categories for players are classified into: Platinum, Diamond, Gold, Silver and Emerging players. The salaries for each category are as follows:

Platinum: $140,000

Diamond: $70,000

Gold: $50,000

Silver: $25,000

Emerging: $10,000

Like the IPL or SA20, there is no auction system in place. The PCB have the draft system which was put in place to level the playing field, without inviting explosive biddings. A total of 318 players, including 138 from Pakistan, had registered for the drafts. The break-up are as follows:

Platinum: 29

Diamond: 39

Gold: 60

Silver: 123 in Silver
