Rajasthan Royals Meant The World To Me: Sanju Samson Amid Exit From Franchise

The RR skipper may have very well played his last match for the franchise

It looks as though Sanju Samson's stint with the Rajasthan Royals (RR) has come to an end. He has played for them since 2018 and scored over 4,000 runs. But according to reports, he has asked the franchise to release him ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026.

There have been speculations over which team he would turn up for next year, although, according to various rumours, his preferred destination seems to be Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

"RR has meant the world to me. A small child coming from a village in Kerala, wanting to show his talent. And then Rahul [Dravid] sir and Manoj Badale sir [RR owner] gave me a stage to get up and show the world what I am made of," Samson told Ravichandran Ashwin in his YouTube show.

"That time, they trusted me throughout. The journey with RR has been really great, and I’m very grateful to have been in a franchise like that. It really means a lot to me," Samson added.

Samson led RR to the final in 2022 and playoffs in 2024. Riyan Parag led RR when Samson missed out or played solely as an impact sub last season. It will be interesting to see if Parag is appointed the permanent captain of the franchise.
