The new domestic season has started off with a bang for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) skipper Rajat Patidar, who today in the Duleep Trophy clash against North East Zone, hammered a boundary-filled 125 off 96 balls. Leading the Central Zone side in Dhruv Jurel’s absence, Patidar started his innings in fifth gear and helped his side dominate the first day.
Patidar walked in at 148/1 when opener Aryan Juyal retired hurt, and then he went to stitch a 199-run stand with Vidarbha’s Danish Malewar. In his 96-ball stay in the middle, the Madhya Pradesh man hit 21 fours and 3 sixes, making it a total of 102 runs in boundaries.
Patidar, who played 3 Tests for India against England at the start of 2024, is also eyeing a red-ball comeback ahead of the home Test season. He’s in pretty good touch in red-ball cricket as well, having amassed 623 runs at an average of 56.63 in his last 11 knocks, posting 2 tons and as many fifties.
Overall, in his FC career, Patidar is averaging just above 43, and is nearing the 5000-run mark.
