Suryakumar Yadav’s IPL 2025 continues to get crazier with every game as the Mumbai Indians (MI) batter has broken YET ANOTHER all-time record.
Earlier in the season, he set a new world record for the most consecutive 25+ scores in T20 history, going past the 13 set by Temba Bavuma six years back. Then, Suryakumar also set a new record for the most runs scored by a Mumbai Indians batter in an IPL season, shattering the run-tally of Sachin Tendulkar, who had amassed 618 runs in IPL 2010.
On June 1 (Sunday), against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Qualifier 2 in Ahmedabad, SKY scripted more history as he broke AB de Villiers’ record for the most runs scored by a non-opener in a season of the IPL. De Villiers had smashed 687 runs in IPL 2016, and for the longest time, the run tally remained unbroken. But that’s in the past now as SKY has set a new all-time IPL record, going past AB’s record.
On the night, Suryakumar also became the first non-opener in IPL history to amass 700+ runs in a season.
At the time of writing this copy, SKY was batting on 30*, having gone past the 25-run mark for a staggering 16th consecutive time.
