Former Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin ignored Indian skipper Rohit Sharma from his Champions Trophy 2025 XI. The Indian skipper had a stellar Champions Trophy, scoring 180 runs, averaging 36, and striking at 100.
Not only that, Rohit made the single most important contribution to India, with a 76 in the final against New Zealand, without which India might have lost the tournament. Instead, Ashwin chose the Player of the Tournament—Rachin Ravindra and Ben Duckett—as the two openers in his best team.
However, the CSK all-rounder picked up two Indian stars in the middle-order: Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer. Josh Inglis, who starred in the highest-ever chase in Champions Trophy 2025 against England, too makes the list alongside David Miller.
The all-round duo of Azmatullah Omarzai and Michael Bracewell complete the batting line-up. New Zealand’s skipper Mitchell Santner, however, wasn’t picked in the XI. Ashwin picked the trio of Kuldeep Yadav, Varun Chakravarthy and Matt Henry to finish the team, covering all the bases.
