There was a bit of a scare in the 12th over of the second innings for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in their eight-wicket loss at home against Gujarat Titans on April 2 (Wednesday) when Virat Kohli hurt his fingers.
The former Indian skipper tried to prevent a boundary and, in the process, hurt his fingers, which required the physio to come out. While Kohli never left the field, he was seen wincing in pain, leading to speculations of an injury.
However, in the aftermath of the clash, RCB’s head coach, Andy Flower cleared the air, stating that there’s no concern over Kohli’s fitness ahead of their next clash.
“Virat [Kohli] looks fine, he’s okay, there’s no worry,” Flower said in the post-match press conference.
Kohli didn’t have the best of nights out at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, registering his first single-digit score (7) since April 23, 2023, when he was dismissed for a first-ball duck. Across his last nine games at the venue before this clash, Kohli had scores of 47, 27, 42, 42, 22, 83*, 77, 101* and 54.
As it turned out, it was the former LSG pacer Arshad Khan, who prized out Kohli pretty early on in the powerplay, as RCB were reduced to 38/3 in no time.
