Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB)’s Devdutt Padikkal feels that he is under no pressure whatsoever while batting, all thanks to having great batters at the top in the form of Virat Kohli and Phil Salt and then finishers at the bottom of the batting order like Tim David and Jitesh Sharma.
“When you have players like Virat and Salt at the top, and some really good power hitting towards the end, it makes your job easier,” Padikkal said on May 2 (Friday), ahead of the team’s match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on May 3 (Saturday) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
“You don’t have too much pressure to really go long in the innings,” added the batter, who has hit his mojo and scored 230 runs in nine innings, with two centuries to his name.
Michael Hussey, the batting coach of the CSK unit, said that his team is still capable of competing with the best in the business, despite being at the bottom of the IPL 2025 points table.
“I know we’re sitting at the bottom, but I don’t think we’re too far away. I still think we’re close, and we can compete with any team in the competition. So we’re certainly not going to panic and throw everything out just because it hasn’t gone well this year. But we definitely need to tidy up on a few areas,” he said.
The match in Bengaluru is under threat of getting washed out due to inclement weather in the city.
