RCB's ₹12.50 Cr Signing In HUGE DOUBT For IPL 2025 After Suffering Fresh Injury
The player was RCB's most expensive signing at the IPL 2025 mega auction
Australia’s Josh Hazlewood, who was Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s most expensive signing at the 2025 Indian Premier League mega auction at ₹12.50 crore, is a major doubt for IPL 2025 after picking up a fresh hip injury that has already ruled him out of the Champions Trophy.
RCB fought off Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Mumbai Indians (MI) to secure the services of Hazlewood but the 34-year-old’s participation in IPL 2025 is hanging by a thread due to the hip injury he has picked up.
His Australia teammate Pat Cummins, who is the captain of Sunrisers Hyderabad, is also a doubt for IPL 2025 due to the ankle injury that’s ruled him out of the Champions Trophy.
“Both fast bowlers [Cummins & Hazlewood] will require an extended period of rehabilitation before they receive the all-clear to return to play, which places a question mark over their involvement in the Indian Premier League which follows the Champions Trophy,” a report on cricket.com.au said.
Hazlewood missed the second half of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against India first due to a side strain and then due to a calf injury. The calf injury also kept him out of the ongoing two-Test series against Sri Lanka. But the concern for both Australia and RCB is Hazlewood having picked up a fresh hip issue.
Cameron Green is already confirmed to miss IPL 2025, while Mitchell Marsh’s participation is in huge doubt following the back injury that’s already ruled him out of the Champions Trophy.
