NEWSThe two new franchises – Ahmedabad and Lucknow – have less than a week to decide on their final picks. Ahead of the 2022 IPL Auction, which reportedly is set to happen in February, CVC Capital Partner (Irelie Company Pte Ltd) have finalized on Hardik Pandya, Rashid Khan and Shubman Gill as their three players.
While the earlier reports suggested that Ishan Kishan would join the duo of Hardik and Rashid, ESPNCricinfo’s reports have pointed at the franchise instead opting to go with Gill. On the coaching front, former Indian pacer Ashish Nehra, former South African coach Gary Kirsten and former England batter Vikram Solanki will be part of the franchise.
According to the same reports, Ahmedabad have decided to pay both Hardik and Rashid Rs. 15 crore for the upcoming seasons, with Gill earning Rs. 7 crore for being the third player. While there were concerns over the fitness of the Indian all-rounder, it is not prevented Ahmedabad in sealing a player familiar with the culture.
On the other hand, Gill, who was earlier earmarked to become Kolkata Knight Riders’ skipper, instead was let go by the franchise. It would be the first time the trio would be together in the same setup.
