Respect looks quite visible after we beat Australia twice at their home: Kohli

India have won the last four Border-Gavaskar Trophy

One of the modern-day greats, Virat Kohli feels the fierce rivalry between India and Australia has evolved over the years and now turned into respect, especially with the Men in Blue winning back-to-back Test series Down Under.

In fact, India have won the last four Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Rohit Sharma and his men recently whitewashed Bangladesh in a two-match series at home and will now take on New Zealand in a three-Test series.

Once they are done with the Black Caps, India will head to Australia for the blockbuster five-match Test series, starting on November 22 in Perth.

This will be the first five-match Test series between the two sides since 1991/92, and there’s no doubt that the quality of cricket will be top-notch.

"It was quite intense at the beginning, but I think since the time we had won two Test series in Australia, the rivalry has turned into respect,” Kohli said on Star Sports.

"We are not taken lightly now as a Test team. The respect looks quite visible when you play against Australia since we have beaten them twice - back-to-back series wins at their own backyard.”

Kohli hasn’t been in great form of late but has a terrific record in Australia. In 13 Tests Down Under, the right-handed batter has slammed 1352 runs at an average of 54.08, including four fifties and six tons.
