547 runs in 8 innings at an average of 78.14 and a strike rate of 103.8 - Rohit Sharma has dominated Pakistan in ODIs in recent times, and the Indian captain once again took the attack to Shaheen Afridi and Co. early in the innings in Match 5 of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in Dubai.
Chasing a target of 242 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Rohit announced his arrival with a 4 and 6 off Naseem Shah. The six, of course, was his trademark pull shot, sending the ball over into the second tier of the deep backward square leg boundary.
The right-hander then got another boundary off Naseem before slicing Afridi towards sweeper cover. Rohit raced to 20 off 14 deliveries and it looked like the 37-year-old would once again decimate Pakistan and make light work of the 242-run target, but Afrid had other ideas.
The left-arm seamer brought out his trademark inswinging yorker and Rohit, who was looking to be aggressive, failed to get his bat down on time and ended up getting his middle stump uprooted. This is the third time Rohit has gotten out to Afridi in the 50-over format.
