It was yet another special outing in whites for Rishabh Pant, who on day two of the first Test against England in Headingley notched up his seventh Test ton. Not only that, he also broke a plethora of records, including becoming the first ever overseas wicket-keeper to hammer three Test tons in England. He overtook MS Dhoni’s tally of Test centuries, and is now only a few hundred runs away from becoming the highest run-scoring Indian wicket-keeper batter ever.
According to former India cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar, however, Pant is already ‘by far’ India’s greatest ever keeper-batter.
"By far, India's greatest ever Test batter-keeper. I was worried when he was in the 90s that he might end up getting his 8th 90 of his career. It is just unbelievable that he has so many 90s! But he's a breath of fresh air,” Manjrekar said, reported the Times of India.
"When he got out and raised his bat, there were a lot of English supporters who stood up and applauded that innings. That's what we love about England -- these guys come to watch good cricket. They want their team to win, but when they see excellence from the opposition, you can see true appreciation for it," he added.

The ton today was Pant’s second consecutive hundred in England, following his century at Edgbaston in 2022. He has now crossed the 50-run mark in each of his last four outings in England.
