Rishabh Pant fined for slow over-rate following DC's loss to LSG

The DC skipper was fined INR 12 lakh under the IPL's Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences

Delhi Capitals (DC) skipper Rishabh Pant has been Rs 12 lakh for his side's slow over-rate against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in an Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 match.

"As it was the team's first offence of the season under the IPL's Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences, Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant was fined Rs 12 lakh," the IPL said in a statement.

DC lost by six wickets to LSG on Thursday (April 7), to suffer their second defeat from three matches in the ongoing season.

DC posted a modest 149 for 3 after being sent into bat but LSG rode on Quinton de Kock's 80 off 52 balls to easily chase down the target.

Speaking of the loss, Pant said that his side were about 10-15 runs short.

"Obviously when the dew is like that, you can't complain. But as a batting unit, we were 10-15 runs short," Pant said at the post-match presentation.

"We just wanted to give our 100% till the last ball of the 40th over. I think the powerplay was fine, but the main game changed in the middle overs. The spinners bowled well, but we were 10-15 runs short," he added.

After two losses in a row, DC will look to get back to winning ways when they take on Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Sunday (April 10) at the Brabourne Stadium.
