India captain Rohit Sharma became just the fourth Indian batter to go past 11,000 runs in One-Day Internationals (ODI). He is also the second-fastest after Virat Kohli to the landmark. Kohli got there in 222 innings, while Rohit has taken 261. The Indian skipper achieved this feat in the team's ICC Champions Trophy 2025 opener against Bangladesh in Dubai on February 20 (Thursday).
Virat Kohli 222
Rohit Sharma 261
Sachin Tendulkar 276
Ricky Ponting 286
Sourav Ganguly 288
Overall, Rohit is only the 10th player to breach the 11,000-run mark in ODIs. He needed just 12 runs to get to the landmark ahead of the start of this game, and he got it in just 14 deliveries. Only Sachin Tendulkar (18,426), Virat Kohli (13,963), and Sourav Ganguly (11,221) have scored more runs than Rohit in the 50-over format for India.
Rohit has now played as many matches as Anil Kumble (269). Only seven other Indian cricketers have played more matches for India than Rohit. He led India to their first ICC title in 11 years as they won the T20 World Cup in 2024.
