Ahead of Samao’s first clash in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Asia & EAP Qualifier, 2025, there was a lot of hype around Ross Taylor’s return. However, the former New Zealand international couldn’t make much of an impact for the Island nation, as he scored 22 off 28 balls against a strong Oman attack on October 8 (Wednesday).
Taylor, whose last international match was in 2022, walked out to bat at 20/3 in the seventh over of the innings. While he got off the mark immediately, pinching a single off the first ball, his innings thereafter were very uncharacteristic.
In his entire stay at the crease, the former New Zealand batter could only find the boundary once, which came behind the wicket. Just when it felt like Taylor was going to accelerate, the right-hander was trapped right in front, after scoring just 22 off 28 balls.
Samoa couldn’t really make a great impression of their cricketing talent either, as they could only post 92 runs in their stipulated 20 overs against Oman.
