Ross Taylor's Samoan Dream Ends Abruptly As Batter Walks off INJURED

Taylor might not take part in the rest of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup Asia and EAP qualifier in Oman

Just two games into his international comeback, Ross Taylor’s dreams have been shattered after the Samoan batter injured himself in their clash against Papua New Guinea on October 9 (Thursday).

Samoa impressed everyone in the second clash against PNG, when they dismissed them for just 117 runs after their 20 overs. Assad Vala top-scored for PNG, with a run-a-ball 38, hitting one four and two sixes. After Samoa’s batting display the other night, it was clear that they had to turn their fortunes around in quick fashion.

Sean Solia stood up and delivered, as the left-handed smashed a stroke-filled 45-ball 62, where he trashed four fours and three sixes, striking at 137.7. With the score reading 75/2, Taylor walked out to bat, much to the expectations of the fans. However, he could barely have an impact on the game, as he walked back gingerly, retired hurt, after hitting just one off five balls.

According to Stuff.co.nz, “Ross Taylor might not play again at the World Cup qualifiers”, with the former New Zealand captain injuring his right calf during the clash. However, the dream isn’t yet over for Samoa, who, with two points, might qualify for the Super Six stage, where they will eye that coveted World Cup spot.

But it is all but certain that Taylor might not play a further part in the competition.
