Former India cricketer Dodda Ganesh, who played 4 Tests and one ODI for India, took to X (formerly Twitter) to express his displeasure over the current Indian management of Kuldeep Yadav.
India named two spinners in their starting XI for the second Test against England at Edgbaston, but Kuldeep was not one of them. Skipper Shubman Gill said at the toss that Kuldeep missed out because India wanted to bolster their lower-order batting following two bad collapses in Leeds.
Ganesh took a sarcastic dig at Gill, Gambhir & Co, stating that Kuldeep should probably think about batting in the top three for his state side, since the current management only values secondary skills.
“Kuldeep should bat in Top 3 for Uttar Pradesh in the Ranji Trophy and get some runs, to be picked to play for India in the Tests,” Ganesh wrote on X.
“I don’t see any other way he can force his way back into this setup where one’s secondary skill dictates the team selection.”

After playing a Test each in 2019, 2021 and 2022, and no Tests in 2020, Kuldeep enjoyed his best year in Tests in 2024, playing as many as five Tests. He picked 22 wickets at an average of 23.09 and played a pivotal role in the team’s 4-1 series win over England at home.
The Sydney Test in 2019 remains the last Test Kuldeep played in a SENA country, where he picked up 5/99 in the first innings, impressing then coach Ravi Shastri.
