Pakistan cricket team have been hit by a viral infection, which has affected several players with flu and high fever. Pakistan’s opener Abdullah Shafique is one of the many cricketers who has been affected by the viral infection, missing Pakistan’s optional training ahead of their clash against Australia.
ESPNCricinfo reported that Shafique is amongst four Pakistani cricketers - Shaheen Shah Afridi, Saud Shakeel and Zaman Khan - who have been affected by the viral. Leg-spinning all-rounder Usama Mir too, was sick earlier in the tournament when Pakistan took on India in Ahmedabad. It is unlikely that Shaheen will be ruled out of the contest against Australia, with the left-arm pacer recovering well.
"Some players got fever in the past few days and most of them have fully recovered from it," the PCB said in a statement. "Those who are in the stage of recovery remain under the team medical panel's observation."
