Should Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma retire? Kapil Dev responds
The veteran cricketers are expected to play in the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025
Following the Test series against Australia, there have been uncertainty over the future of two of India's stalwarts Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. However, the duo are expected to be part of India's squad for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
Should they continue playing, though? Former India captain Kapil Dev believes the decision to call time on their career must be their own.
"They are great players. When they think it's the right time to play, they will play, and when they think it's not, they will call it off...," Kapil said on the sidelines of an event in Chhattisgarh.
While Kohli managed 190 runs in the series, Rohit scored just 31 runs in five innings, and he also stood down from the final Test in Sydney, as a result.
Rohit and Kohli have already retired from T20 Internationals (T20Is) but are available to play the 50-over format. The BCCI is expected to announce the squad for the Champions Trophy in the coming days, and both of them are expected to be named in it, with Rohit leading the side.
