Shubman Gill scored his fourth century of the series on Day 5 of the fourth Test against England in Manchester, becoming only the third captain in Test history to hit four hundreds in a single series. The only others to achieve this feat are Sir Don Bradman (1947/48) and Sunil Gavaskar (1978/79).
Gill started the series in blazing form with scores of 147, 8, 269, and 161 in the first two Tests, but then went through a rough patch with three low scores. However, he bounced back when it mattered most, bringing up his ninth Test hundred at Old Trafford.
After England posted a massive 669 and took a 311-run lead, India were rocked early, losing two wickets in the first over. The match looked like it could end by Day 4. But Gill stood firm, showing great patience and resilience. He stitched a crucial 188-run partnership with KL Rahul, who scored 90 off 230 balls.
Gill battled through a tough spell from Ben Stokes and reached his hundred off 228 balls - his slowest century, but one of the most valuable of his career. The right-hander, however, couldn't carry on and got out to Jofra Archer after scoring 103 off 238 deliveries.
