The Gujarat Titans (GT) are on a winning streak in the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL). After defeating the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by seven wickets in Hyderabad, they have completed a hat-trick of wins in the season.
Skipper Shubman Gill credited his bowlers for such good performances. Notably, Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna and Sai Kishore have been phenomenal for GT lately, with Siraj even taking a four-wicket haul in the Hyderabad game against SRH, which decimated SRH’s batting.
“Bowlers are game-changers, especially in this format,” Gill said during the post-match presentation.
“A lot of people talk about T20s, batting and hitting, but we think matches are won by bowlers, and that is why a lot of emphasis on bowlers [in this franchise].”
Gill also praised Washington Sundar, who, despite not bowling, scored a quick-fire 49 in the chase and displayed his utility with the bat in hand. He also mentioned how Siraj’s infectious energy has helped the side.
“[If Gill tried to use his Test match technique during the powerplay] You still have to play cricketing shots - that was the chat between me and Washington. To have good intent and play some shots on the floor,” Gill added.
“He [Washington] was very close [to playing] in the game against Mumbai. He was padded the whole game, but with the Impact Player rule, it gives you an opportunity to play someone else [if you need an extra bowler]. It was all about having a good partnership, and we said once we are set, we will take it from there. The energy he [Siraj] brings is tremendous. When playing against him, you want him in your team. His energy is infectious.”
GT are now second on the points table after three wins in four games.
